With the SAP Controlling Conference 2025 fast approaching, get an exclusive preview of some of the exciting session highlights we have planned for you.
Changes to Material Ledger with Universal Parallel Accounting
- Paul Ovigele
The integration of Universal Parallel Accounting (UPA) within SAP S/4HANA represents a significant advancement in the Financial Accounting and Controlling modules, particularly affecting the General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Product Costing and Material Ledger. This session focuses on the changes with Material Ledger and will explore how UPA has enhanced the capabilities of Material Ledger, to calculate a parallel Actual Cost per ledger, and to manage multiple valuation approaches and currencies seamlessly.
Attend this session to learn the following:
- How UPA allows for the management of different material prices across multiple ledgers, reflecting diverse accounting principles and valuation approaches.
- The centralized configuration of ledgers and currencies under UPA, which simplifies setup processes in Material Ledger.
- How UPA's support for up to ten currencies, enables calculation and parallel posting in each Ledger and Valuation.
- How UPA enhances actual costing by allowing ledger-specific Periodic Unit Prices, and flexibility to calculate Actual cost for a single period or year-to-date
Effective Strategies for Master Data Management in Central Finance
- Anand Seetharaju
SAP Central Finance (CFIN) is a system that consolidates financial data from multiple source systems into one central system. In CFIN, master data plays a critical role in ensuring smooth integration and accurate financial reporting. In this session, you’ll learn important considerations for master data in CFIN such as:
- Master data from multiple source systems (SAP and non-SAP) must be harmonized to ensure consistency. This includes mapping data like Chart of Accounts, Business Partners, and Cost Centers.
- Data mapping is essential to define relationships between source systems and the Central Finance system. This is used during both the initial load and ongoing replication of transactional data.
- Centralized/Decentralized - Using SAP MDG can help manage and maintain master data quality. It provides tools for data validation, enrichment, and governance. Alternatively, other tools can be used.
- Central Finance often requires the creation of a "golden record" for master data, which serves as a single source of truth for financial processes.
- Leading practices followed for master data creation, mapping, validation, and error handling in central finance scenarios
How Work Centers Impact Product Costing
- Tom King
Work centers are the point of interface that allows for activity quantities and costs from cost centers to be transferred to material and manufacturing order costs.
This session demonstrates how activity quantities and costs are calculated and explores many misconceptions concerning how routing data, such as standard values, are used in formulas. Formulas are used for both capacity planning and scheduling as well, and the interaction between these formulas and costing formulas will be highlighted. Using the
S/4HANA system, manufacturing management can now also zero in on costs and variances at the work center level using the Fiori app Analyze Costs by Work Center / Operation. This is now an important tool for managing the efficiency of the production
floor.
